Gino Di Dio was born in Naples, Italy, where he spent his formative years before serving in the Italian Navy. In 1978, at the age of 22, he immigrated to New York City. He subsequently established a career as a mechanical HVAC contractor, a profession he practiced for a decade before transitioning to the food distribution industry.
Throughout his professional career, Di Dio maintained a dedicated practice in the visual arts. After exploring multiple mediums, he developed a sustained focus on oil painting. In 2010, Di Dio and his wife, Julie, settled in Damascus, Virginia.
While primarily self-taught, Di Dio has enriched his artistic practice through selective workshops and collaborations with established professional artists. In recent years, his work has evolved significantly toward woodworking. Di Dio's current body of work represents a synthesis of his painterly sensibilities and technical understanding of wood, resulting in abstract sculptures that explore the intersection of natural material and artistic expression.
